Access Project Goes Into Full Swing

As Canada was busy earning gold medals and celebrating the end to an amazing 16 days of spirit and athleticism in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics, the Youth Voices Research Group team was busy enlisting the talents of youth in Toronto and Thunder Bay to serve as research consultants and social media innovators as part of the Access Project. The Access Project is looking at the twin issues of access to cigarettes and access to smoking cessation options for youth and young adults. Our social media specialist Andrea Yip and community organizing leader Samy Saad helped kick the project off in Toronto with a great team at St. Stephens Community House on Friday February 26th. The next day, they traveled to Thunder Bay to start the project in the North. In the coming week, Sam and Andrea will be visiting Smith Falls, Ontario to do the same with the project in that community.
